Praise Looks Good On You!
Praise is
beautiful! Praise is comely! In other words, to God, praise looks good on you!
When you and I praise God, it melts His heart. When we praise Him with all of
our hearts, it makes Him sit up and pay attention. In God’s eyes, praise makes
you look good.
It is good
to sing praises to our God, and praise and worship makes us feel good. It elevates
our spirits, carrying us on wings of hope, happiness, joy, satisfaction and
peace into the very Presence of God and of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. When we praise
God, we know we are doing a good thing, unlike when we murmur and complain,
which only leaves us feeling bitter, insecure and burdened by the cares and
troubles of this world.
You singing
and worshipping the Lord is a sweet and pleasant sound in His ears, one He
loves hearing daily. We all like to look good. But we are at our best when we
are praising our Father and blessing His name.
Jesus was
sent and anointed by Father God to lift us up out of what holds us down.
Isaiah 61:1-3
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to
preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are
bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of
our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them
beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the
spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the
planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
When troubles,
sorrows, disappointments, disaster, heartbreak and heaviness of heart come, as
they inevitably will, do not give up or give in; do not quit. Begin to praise
God with all of your might. God knows how to turn disasters around. He’s been
doing it for millennia. He knows how to turn your mourning into dancing again. He
has ways beyond your understanding of lifting you up from the ash heaps of life, to give you beauty for
your ashes.
If you have been feeling down, sad, burdened or stressed more than usual lately, ask Holy Spirit for the Garment of Praise for your spirit of heaviness, for the oil of joy and for His comfort in your times of mourning. And do not forget to give Him praise when He comes through for you.
Prayer: “Lord, I love
You! Thank You that I can call on You whenever I need comfort, help or joy. I rest
assured in the knowledge that You care deeply and watchfully for me and my
family. That is why I will praise You with all that is within me all the days
of my life. Jesus, You are my all in all. Father, You are the Great I Am, the
One who has the power to meet all of my needs.
Thank You,
Lord, for loving me so. I willingly and lavishly pour out my love on You now.
You make me look good. Praising You makes me look good. All glory to Your name."
