Restore My Soul

He restores my soul.  Psalms 23:3 TLV

Days come when we feel drained emotionally, physically and even spiritually. That's when we need to restore our souls. But how do we do that?

Prosperity Is A God Idea

Apostle John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote:

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2 KJV

Could be that branch of the church John wrote these words to were feeling the seemingly endless persecution and malice from walking in the truth only to be mocked, ridiculed and threatened with excommunication by those who claimed to love God more than they, who felt it their life's mission to 'fix their faith,' who wanted to be in charge over everyone, but who only possessed a shallow me-focused relationship with God.

Perhaps they felt pressed out of measure by the oppression and attacks of the Devil which never seemed to let up.

Maybe, like us, they were tired from every day trials and troubles which have the potential of sucking the joy out of everything.

Or maybe they were just plain weary of well-doing towards the ungrateful and cynical among them.

Prosperity in every area of our lives is a God-idea. God's prosperity restores our souls. We need to remember that even though some in the church believe poverty, hardship, doom and gloom comes from God and is His way of keeping us holy.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8

The Promised Land was not the place of shame, sour milk, and poverty. God called the land He chose for His people, 'The Land of Milk and Honey!'

God is the God of abundance, not only materially, but in every area of life. Creation testifies to that truth! And what God has, He desires to make real in His children's lives and in the earth, too.

God Wants You Prosperous and Well, Too

God wants you prospering in every area of your life, too: spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially. He has made provision for you to find restoration for your soul In Him, but it is up to you to receive God's goodness toward you in and for every area of your life. You may only be receiving spiritually, but that is not enough.

God created us spirit, soul and body. Taking care of just one part leaves us out of balance in the other areas. Going to church once a week, earning a salary and spending it on what we need, and taking care of our bodies is not prospering in every area. Our emotional health needs prospering, too. We need time daily with the Lord in order to stay focused, hopeful and full of joy. Only when God's prosperity, refreshing and restoration is carefully sought in every area of our lives, then we will be able to walk more powerfully under and in His Anointing.

How Do I Restore My Soul?

So how do you restore your soul

1. Start with forgiveness.

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in Heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in Heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:24‭-‬26

Prospering God's way is starting off with a clean slate. Spend time asking God for forgiveness and forgiving others. Repentance and forgiveness have a way of making you feel refreshed, lighter, brand new and ready for any challenge!

2. Soak your soul.

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that Times of Refreshing may come from the Presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19

After repentance, spend time just soaking your soul in the Presence of the Lord, catching your breath and focusing on His goodness and kindness toward you. Just 'be' in the Presence of the Lord. Don't focus on doing or impressing Him. Just be still and draw much-needed strength and refreshment from Him for the road ahead.

3. Give thanks unto the Lord.

Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20

When you feel weary of well-doing, or just weary in general, connect with God by giving Him thanks for always being with you in everything, for making a way where there seems to be no way at times. Ask Him to pour out His love for the brethren in your heart so that His love can be shed abroad through you again.

4. Worship the Lord.

Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalms 29:2

Worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness! Just lay before Him, worshipping Him with all your heart. Put on some worship and let your soul rise to meet with Your Maker in sweet communion. Soon your soul will feel restored again.

5. Spend time reading your Bible.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Reading the Word out loud builds and strengthens your faith, especially when you are feeling down or burdened. The Word has God's inherent power in it to refresh and raise up even the weariest of souls.

6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 as often as possible!

Listen For The Voice of Your First Love

Restoring your soul to God's factory settings is not difficult, as you can see! That is, restoring your soul to what God created it to be: a place of rest to meet with Him and to find refreshing for your soul, as and when needed. Just press the reset button in your mind, casting all your cares upon Him, and let your heart seek your Saviour. He is always waiting to spend time with you, to restore you, to refresh you, to speak to you, and to give you His strength when you have run out of your own.

God is speaking to you today. Can you hear Him in your heart? He is saying,

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3.

In order to hear the voice of your First Love, though, you need to restore your soul, releasing it occasionally from the cares and troubles of this world in order to hear and to see all the great and mighty things your God has in store for you!
